Urban Vineyard was created to bring the cellar door experience into the heart of OUR neighbourhood.

Founded by Matt Talbot (winemaker behind Patch Wines), the idea began as an urban cellar door to showcase the Patch Wines portfolio. The vision quickly grew into something bigger: a space dedicated to discovering and sharing great wines from small and independent producers.

Today, Urban Vineyard is both a wine shop and cellar door, featuring a curated selection of wines from Australia and around the world. Many of the producers we work with don't have a physical presence in Melbourne's east, so Urban Vineyard gives their wines a place to be poured, explored, and enjoyed.

More than a place to buy wine, Urban Vineyard exists to give the local community something that had been missing: a relaxed neighbourhood destination to taste, learn about, and enjoy great wine.

Meet Matt

Matt Talbot is the winemaker behind Patch Wines, a range of small-batch wines he has developed from the ground up.

Urban Vineyard started as a home for the Patch portfolio and expanded from there, becoming a platform for producers who share the same approach: small runs, genuine craft, and wines worth talking about.

Our range

Our stock is curated, not comprehensive. We look for wines and producers worth knowing about, particularly those without a presence in Melbourne's eastern suburbs. The range includes:

  • Patch Wines: Matt's own small-batch range, always available to taste

  • South Gippsland gins: available to taste daily

  • Small and independent Australian wine producers

  • Carefully selected international wines

  • Local craft spirits

The range changes as we find new producers worth stocking.

TASTINGS

The tasting experience is central to what Urban Vineyard is about. Patch Wines are available to try whenever we're open. On Fridays and Saturdays, a selection from the shelves is opened for tasting. The weekly update on what's pouring is posted to Instagram and Facebook.

Whether you're a regular or visiting for the first time, you're welcome to come in, ask questions, and try before you buy.
